What is the Pediatric Feeding Disorders Clinic at The Michael R. Boh Center for Child Development?
This clinic focuses on treatment of children with pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders (not eating disorders), including Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). The goal of the clinic is to provide a comprehensive assessment to children who present with restricted eating (limited diet or liquid-dependent) or are tube-dependent.
The comprehensive team consists of:
- Pediatric gastroenterologist
- Behavioral psychologist
- Social worker
- Pediatric dietitian
- Speech therapist
- Occupational therapist
What should families know?
Families are instructed to bring food for the child to eat so that they can be observed eating a meal. Patients are provided with a follow-up treatment plan for medical procedures recommended, dietary changes and outpatient therapy recommendations, if needed.
When is clinic held?
Clinic is held on Tuesdays at the Boh Center.
